FAQ – frequently asked questions

BOOKING OF CAMPING PITCHES

Do I need to book in advance for a pitch ?

We recommend to book in July and August. Along with your booking, you can quote your preferences for the pitch, regarding for example shade, distance to sanitary building and swimming pool and the dimensions of your camping equipment. This will help us to keep the perfect pitch for your needs. Of course you can also ask to be pitched next to friends or family.
When booking, you are bound to the reserved nights, which you have to pay upon arrival.
It is also possible to come without a booking, you may then choose one of the then available pitches. You can then decide from day-to-day if you stay or travel further. But you have then no guarantee that there will be place available.

Can I book in last minute ?

We never book all our pitches in advance. So there is always a chance on last minute. Best is to call us a day before to enquire if there is still availability (++ 352 837186)

what is the difference between a camping pitch and a pitch on the tent field ?

a camping pitch is a marked out space with a number. This pitch can be used with a caravan, trailer tent or tent, possibly also with a camper if it is not too wet. All these places have power connection.

a pitch on the tent field (also called circus field, to the right of the entrance to the campsite) is a free grass field, the pitches are not marked out and everyone can pitch up as they want, respecting the others who are already on that field. Only tents are allowed there. There is also the possibility for power connection around the field.

How can I book ?

You can book online (see button BOOK DIRECT above). You can always contact us directly, but it can be useful to include the ferry boat from United Kingdom to the continent in your package. We work with Select Sites Reservations (Select Sites) who offer you combined ferry and campsite fees. Also check our special offers for low season booking (see left navigation bar).
For a campsite pitch, you can choose any day of arrival or departure, it doesn’t need to be a saturday.
For the self-catering holiday homes, in July and August arrival and departure day is Friday; in low season, you can also book from Friday till Monday or from Monday till Friday. Special weekends such as for example Ascension weekend it is possible to book other “half” weeks.
The Quartier Pod Huts are rented per night.

What happens when I have booked and I cannot come ?

With every booking, you get a link to book for a travel insurance.  For more information to recover your deposit, please have a look at our insurance partner’s website

At what time is the pitch available on my arrival day ?

The family leaving your pitch has until 12:00 to pack, after that, it’s all yours. If you arrive earlier and the pitch is not yet free, you can wait on the terrace

You will need a so-called “euro hookup” (blue), as seen on the picture.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What are the opening times of the campsite ?

The campsite is open from March 1st till November 8th.

Various opening hours can be found here : www.bit.ly/KengertOpenHours

Can we cycle in the surroundings ?

Cycling and hiking is possible everywhere in Luxembourg, we have maps and routes for you in the shop. Larochette is at 1,5 KM distance from the campsite.
From Larochette there are nice cycling possibilities as well, especially in the Valley of the White Ernz, flat tracks bring you to Bourglinster and Reisdorf (connection to the net of cycling tracks), else it is rather hilly. Bikes and mountainbikes can be rented in Larochette. Starting from the camping it is easy to cycle as the road goes down, but don’t forget you’ll have to climb it upon returning! In Luxembourg children under 10 are not allowed to use public streets on a bike and may we recommend you to be careful in traffic : Luxembourg’s drivers are not used to many cyclists.  A challenging mountainbike track starts right from the campsite.

Would you recommend the campsite for children ?

On the campsite in summertime, most families come with children until age of 12 years. Because our policy is to provide a quiet and restful environment, with no discotheque and no entertainment program, there are not many youngsters.  Little feet will enjoy themselves in the outdoor and indoor playground, in the swimming pool and in the adjacent forests. And there is a lot to visit in Luxembourg, check out the Tourist Board website http://www.visitluxembourg.com .

Can we come to the campsite when we have no own transportation (car) ?

Of course it is also possible to come to the campsite on foot or by bicycle. Unfortunately we do not have a bus service to the site, the nearest stop is in Larochette or Nommern-Aechelbur, approximately 1.5km from the site.

If you come by train, choose Mersch as your final destination, and then you can continue with bus 232 towards Haller, get off at Nommern-Aechelbur, then it is about 1.5 km to the campsite. Or, if you ask the bus driver nicely, he’ll let you get off at the campsite (there’s no real bus-stop).

Keep in mind that during your stay you will always first have to walk to Larochette or Aechelbur for public transport.

Details about public transport can be found  here, which is free of charge (in 2nd class) in Luxembourg.

How can I use my navigation gear to reach the campsite ?

Our coordinates are : N 49° 48′ 1″  || 49.8003    E 6° 11′ 54″ || 6.1985
as we have no street name, we advise you to point your car-navigation system to Larochette, when you arrive at “place Bleiche” you will see road signs to the campsite.  In newer satnav’s you will be able to point towards “Kengert”.

I would like to use internet during my holiday, is that possible ?

On the campsite, you can use free WiFi on your own laptop.  In summertime, trees with many leaves and the occupation of the site may slow down the internet.

can we drink the water on the campsite ?

Water from all taps on the camping is drinkable, so you don’t need to buy plastic bottles.

can I wash my clothes on the campsite ?

Washing machines and dryers are located under the main building, accessible from the terrace. Washing and drying tokens can be purchased at the reception, detergent  is included in the rate. The launderette is open 08:30-21:00

can I charge my electric car on the campsite ?

The power points on the campsite are not suitable for charging an electric car, due to safety reasons (danger of overheating of the cable network), it is therefore not allowed to charge your electric car here.

Charging is possible at the parking at the entrance, ask at reception for an adapter to measure the KwH used and pay accordingly.

In Larochette there are 2 “Chargy” charging points;  in Mersch (Electris, 25 Rue Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, 7520 Mersch) there is a 150 kW quickcharger.

are dogs allowed on the campsite ?

Dogs are only allowed on a lead (also on your pitch). They are not allowed in the shop, restaurant, sanitary facilities, swimming pool. They should not disturb other guests.

For the camping pitches: maximum 2 dogs per family.

We have 1 chalet where 1 pet is allowed, and a maximum of 1 is allowed in the huts.

If you are travelling from/to UK and need a pet certificate, we have addresses of vets at reception.

can I use the pool when not staying on the campsite ?

no, due to changed official safety regulations, it is no longer possible to use our swimming pool if you are not staying at the campsite.
